Concealment:
Some photographers create portraits that purposefully hide or disguise sections of the image. Rosanna Jones conceals facial features by overlapping and rearranging parts of the photograph. Wallace Juma partially conceals the identity of the sitter by physically working onto the collaged photographic image. The textile artist Jose Romussi uses stitch and collage to conceal part of the photographic portrait. Pablo Thecuadro creates intricately cut collages from his fashion photographs which often conceal part of a face or figure.

Why have you chosen this theme?
The reason I decided to do this theme was because, the 2 artists Jose Romussi and Pablo Thecuadro, they incorporate some elements of fashion and textile into their work and thats something I am very fascinated in and I would like to do with fashion in my final piece. That is why I have decided to go with Concealment as my component 2 task.
My initial ideas:
1. do a fashion photoshoot and incorporate concealment, digitally or manually.
2.create different motifs inspired by Jose Romussi, some with the same colour palette or the complete opposite.

Artist Research:
Rosanna Jones's artwork seems to be manipulating todays society's minds. Fashion photography sexualize's women and sometimes men, but with her work she destroys the main features of that person, the eyes ,mouth, nose, or she plays with the background but majority of the time she plays around with the persons picture. She destroys the pictures by burning, ripping them or with a scalpel she cuts those key features destroying and manipulating appearance. her project was inspired by this quote: " we disguise ourselves to others that in the end we become disguised to ourselves". This tells me that we are so focused on becoming something beautiful in what society thinks so much that we think that thats a healthy and ok way to live
